Themes play a similar role by writing our layouts and styles against theme attributes, we can use them under different themes, providing different concrete resources. Programming to an interface allows you to decouple the public contract from the implementation allowing you to provide different implementations. Themes are a collection of named resources, useful broadly across an appĪ theme is similar to an interface. By abstracting the resource with a theme, we can provide different concrete values (such as colorPrimary=orange) in different themes. In the example above the colorPrimary attribute specifies that the primary color for this theme is teal. A theme provides concrete values for these named resources. Theme attributes are different from view attributes because they’re not properties specific to an individual view type but semantically named pointers to values which are applicable more broadly in an app. These named resources are known as theme attributes, so a theme is Map. Styles are a collection of view attributes specific to a single type of widget Styles are specific to a single type of widget because different widgets support different sets of attributes: attributes that a widget declares and you might set in a layout file. That is the keys are all view attributes i.e. What’s in a style?Ī style is a collection of view attribute values. You can think of both as key-value stores where the keys are attributes and the values are resources. Theme != Styleīoth themes and styles use the same syntax but serve very different purposes. In this first article, I’ll take a look at the building blocks of the styling system: themes and styles. This is the first in a series of articles where Chris Banes and I will set out to demystify Android styling so that you can make stylish apps without pulling your hair out. Proper use of it can make themes and styles easier to maintain, make branding updates less scary and make it straightforward to support dark modes. The Android styling system offers a powerful way to specify your app’s visual design, but it can be easy to misuse.

The protestors are using the slogan “Women! Life! Freedom!”, an expression used by female Kurdish fighters rebelling against Daesh, with women pulling off their own headscarves in protest. Since Amini’s death, the countryhas been rocked by protests, with hundreds arrested and at least 154 people believed to have been killed. Amini was taken to a detention facility where she died under mysterious circumstances. The protests began as a result of the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was arrested by the moral police in Tehran for incorrectly wearing her hijab. Iranian authorities have blocked Supercell’s Clash of Clans amid fears that players may be using the game’s chat feature to coordinate protests, reports The New Arab. This display is intended for general purpose - gaming, office applications, etc - and not for color critical photo editing. I can't find any data on it's gamut, but I would also guess that it is not full sRGB, though the mfgr's spec seems to indicate it supports 16.7M colors, but fails to indicate that it can do so simultaneously. Given the $150 street price of this display, I would venture to guess that it's a 6 bit display that simulates 8 bit performance. Got it from BandH as a birthday present.Īny help would be appreciated.I have two approx 23" Asus VS247 monitors. I'm beginning to think I might have to replace the monitors which seems sort of ridiculuous - or I could just send the Spyder5Pro back. I've looked at the DataColor videos and searched Youtube and haven't been able to find anything that improves the condition. They actually look pretty good in their uncalibrated state, but are probablyh too bright and too high on the blue side.ĭoes anyone know how to uncalibrate the monitor? I have a good graphics card, but the monitors were pretty inexpensive and are several years old. it wants me to set the brightness to around 130 and the best I can do is around 102). The problem seems to be in the early phases of the calibration the software wants me to increase the brightness of the monitor, but the highest level of brightness that I can set is too low (e.g. I got a Spyder5Pro and calibrated one of my monitors. No color temperature adjustment and brightness is limited and only for specific modes. The controls on the monitors are minimal. I have two approx 23" Asus VS247 monitors. The wire push pull is much better than ropes or cables used in many other skegs, and allows for adjustment of deployment with different winds. Its drop down skeg does need to be kept clean, a little mud or small rocks not cleaned out will easily jam the system. One down side to the poly Zephyr is that its robust nature makes it a little on the heavy side. The front hatch has never leaked, the oval rear hatch has leaked a little during rock gardening when surf breaks on the deck of the boat, but it has not imploded yet. The Zephyrs handling and turning are very sensitive to weight and center of balance, so loading the boat changes its manners quite a bit. The outfitting is adjustable enough to suit most paddlers, and very comfortable. The mild rocker allows edging to make fairly tight turns for a 15' 6" long boat. The boat tracks very well without the skeg, when it is put down it tracks like a much longer boat. The low profile and skeg make the Zephyr an ideal boat in high wind. I have owned the poly 155 for about 4 years, I have used it as a down river boat in class 2/3 white water, light rock gardening, rough water and day touring. I bought the Zephyr as a rough water day touring boat, it is that and a little more. Whether you bought a box or a download, it’s easy to keep your environment in shape.
